How To Take Advantage Of New Year’s Resolutions In Your Health Coaching Practice

We all know that January is the time of year when people make a commitment to healthier habits.
New Year’s resolutions create a frenzy of activity in gyms and juice bars across the country.
Once people have left the holiday cookies and cocktail parties behind, they’re ready for a fresh start. (I know I always am!)
In fact, in a survey, the top two New Year’s resolutions people said they were committing to were to stay fit and healthy (37% of respondents) and to lose weight (32% of respondents).
This is, of course, great news for you!
January is the perfect time of year to attract new clients because people are so motivated to make changes.
Another interesting stat about New Year’s resolutions: only 8% of people actually stick to them.
Clearly there’s a big gap here.
People have a strong desire to live a healthier lifestyle, but lack the knowledge, accountability and motivation to follow through.
All of this points to one thing – there are a lot of people out there that need your help in January!
In this post, I’m sharing a plan for launching a New Year’s Resolution health coaching program – like a cleanse, detox, or jumpstart program, so you can start 2020 off with momentum.
What’s the best offer to make?
Our clients who use our Ready-to-Launch Cleanse Program find that January is a great time to offer a cleanse, detox or jumpstart.
Why it’s perfect:
- Cleanses and detoxes are very structured and provide lots of support from you and the community of participants, so people experience results QUICKLY. (This is exactly what people are looking for.)
- Cleanses and detoxes are usually offered at a low price point, which makes it easy for people to say “yes” (and allows you to get more clients in a short period of time)
- A cleanse is the perfect springboard for people to continue working with you in a higher-priced one-on-one coaching program.
- January is truly the perfect time to offer a short jumpstart, cleanse, or detox program.
It’s perfect for your business, and it’s perfect for your clients!

When should I offer my New Year’s Resolution cleanse program?
You might be wondering when you should offer your program…and when you should start working on putting the program and launch together.
I recommend starting your prep in early December to give yourself plenty of time, with the goal of kicking off your cleanse on January 6th (If you want or need a little more wiggle room, you can certainly start your program in mid-January.)
Here’s a timeline to follow:
(Note – this is assuming you are using a done-for-you program like our Ready-to-Launch Cleanse Program or you’re reusing a program you’ve run in the past and not creating content from scratch.)
Finalize your program details (December 2nd – 8th)
By the end of the first week in December, you will want to have the details of your program – like pricing, length of the program, and a name – all sorted out.
Create marketing materials (December 9th – 22nd)
During these two weeks you’ll create your marketing materials.
Here are a few things you’ll need:
- A sales page where people can learn about your program and register
- A series of 5-7 emails to send to your list inviting them to join
- A welcome email to send when people register
- A private Facebook group to provide support and host live calls
- Social media messages to share that promote your program
Your marketing material can all be created ahead of time and scheduled into your email marketing software and social media platforms.
Our clients who use our Ready-to-Launch Cleanse Program LOVE that we’ve written all of this for them because it saves them TONs of time and they don’t spin their wheels wondering how and what to write.
Promote your program (December 27th – January 5th)
A few days before New Year’s is a great time to start promoting your program. People are already thinking about their resolutions before January 1st, so planting the seed about your program is a great idea.
I always recommend offering an early bird bonus for people who sign up right away.
This can either be a discount on the program or a bonus like an extra coaching call with you. The bonus should only be available for the first 7 days (until around January 2nd) so it gets people to sign up quickly and commit to the program.
In the last few days, you’ll send your final promotional emails, get ready for your kickoff call, and the start of your program on January 6th.
How should I promote my New Year’s Resolution cleanse program?
Things are really stacked in your favor here because like I already mentioned:
a) People are more motivated than ever to commit to their health, and
b) A cleanse, detox or jumpstart is a low-cost program so it’s typically an easy ‘yes’
Your job is to make sure people know about your program and how it can help them!
Here are a few ways to do that:
Email your list
If you’ve got an email list, no matter how big or small it is, write up a few emails letting them know about your program. Your email list contains people who’ve already signed up to hear from you, so don’t be shy about sending these.
Network
When you’re attending networking events and holiday parties in December, and people ask about your business or what you’ve been up to, casually mention that you’re offering an exciting New Year’s Resolution program.
Tell past clients about it
Let anyone that you’ve already worked with know about your New Year’s program. If they’re currently working with you one-on-one, they may still want to join the group program. Plus, you can encourage them to tell their friends about the opportunity – and give them a special “bring a friend” rate.
Ask for referrals
Line up referral partners so they can start to spread the word to their clients and network. If possible, create a ‘cheat sheet’ for them so they have the important details ahead of time.
Leverage social media
Don’t forget to share your program with your audience and network on social media. You can create posts for your Facebook business page and your Instagram account.
If you’re doing Facebook or Instagram lives, create a couple of outlines for 5-10 minute live videos where you can share all the details and answer any questions people might have.
And don’t forget about your personal Facebook account! There is a good chance that your friends and other connections are looking to make some healthy resolutions this year, too, so share the news on your timeline.
Love the idea of offering a new year’s cleanse, detox, or jumpstart program…
