Dislike marketing? I bet this is why…

I bet when you decided to become a health coach it was because you felt passionate about helping people feel better.  You wanted to educate people about food and nutrition. You wanted to coach people about how to have a different relationship with food and their body.

Following your passion, you went to school and started your practice (or are in the beginning stages of starting a practice).

But somewhere along the way,the time devoted to your business was suddenly filled with figuring out how to get people interested in your services.

Being a health coach turned into being a marketer.

I’m guessing that this isn’t how you thought you’d be spending your time.

Do you wish you could just do the work of health coaching and not have to worry about marketing?

What if marketing didn’t feel like marketing.  What if marketing was simply coaching in disguise?

I know it may seem too good to be true, but stick with me here…

One of the reasons marketing can start to feel like a drag is that that it is disconnected from why you became a health coach.

Is your marketing disconnected from that thing you desperately want to share with everyone?

You know that thing

It may relate to your story and something that was transformative for you, but perhaps took you years to figure out.

Maybe it’s something you’ve seen dramatically help your clients, friends, or a relative.

I know there’s a powerful message that you want to get out into the world.

Think about marketing as your opportunity to share this message with people who need and want to hear it.

You are sharing this message when you…

  • Write a blog post.
  • Give a talk.
  • Meet a potential referral partner.
  • Attend a networking event.
  • Create a video.
  • Post on social media.
  • Write copy for your website.

What makes these activities powerful and effective in attracting clients to you is that you’re exhibiting strength, passion, and know-how.  You are being a leader and that is compelling.  People want to be led.

Do you feel like you’ve lost sight of your powerful message?

If you feel like your heart isn’t really in your marketing or that  you’re bored with your message and aren’t sure what you want to say, it’s just a matter of getting you connected to the reasons why you decided to do this work.

When we’re so busy tackling our to-do lists, it’s easy to get disconnected from our “why” and the powerful message.

I know this because I’ve been there.

There’s always so much to-do, that it’s all too easy to just go through the motions.

If this resonates, take a step back.

Tune into what you really want to get out into the world. It’s not what you think you should be talking about (or writing about).  It’s what you feel compelled to talk and write about.
