How to get guest blogging “appearances” that help build your list
Is one of your goals this year to build your list by guest blogging?
I certainly hope it is, because as your list grows, you will be able to enroll more people in private coaching and programs (such as cleanses and detoxes).
If you enjoy writing, one of the most powerful ways to help build your list is through a guest blogging.
You may be wondering how to get started with guest blogging and how to approach people for whom you’d like to write a guest post.
Here is your step-by-step plan to guest blogging:
-
Identify people you want to reach out to.
They should reach the same audience you want to reach, but should not be in competition with you. For example, if you work with moms on emotional eating, you should not reach out to other health coaches that target mothers. You could, however, reach out to a parenting coach. Keep a list of people you have identified.
-
Make heartfelt connections.
Connect with the people you have identified on social media, retweet their stuff, read and comment on their blog. This approach will take a little longer, but will be more effective. On your list, note when you started connecting with them.
-
Make the pitch.
After you have connected with them in various ways over a month or two, send them an email or a message on Facebook. You can say something like, “I’ve been reading your blog for a while,” and then make a personal comment about what you like about their content/philosophy. Ask if they accept guest blogging opportunities and let them know that you would love to write a guest blog. Show initiative by providing one or two titles for potential posts that are relevant to their audience.
Your Action Step: Pick a day and time each week where you can spend an hour dedicated to guest blogging efforts. Use this time to go through steps 1-3 above. Each week, identify new people to connect with on a continual basis.
