A Proven Strategy for Promoting Your Health Coaching Business in January

With New Year’s Resolutions just around the corner, this January is the perfect opportunity to get new clients, fill a group heath coaching program, and make more money.

But how do you actually do this? If you don’t have a big list or any list at all, or if you’d like to reach people beyond your list, you may feel a bit lost.

Are you left wondering, “how can I get more people to know about me and sign up for my services?”

Here’s a simple and proven way to make it happen.

This plan involves lining up a talk, or several talks, to be held in January.

Giving a talk or workshop (AKA speaking) is one of the most effective ways to quickly promote a health coaching business. I’ve seen it work for me and my clients, so I know it can work for you, too.

Why does speaking work like a charm?

It gets you “in front of” a group of people who are interested in what
you offer. You then have the opportunity to truly connect with your audience. There’s nothing that compares to that face-to-face interaction!

As you educate your audience, during the talk, they will view you as the expert that you are, and many of the people in the audience will want to work with you.

Speaking is a powerful way to attract new 1-on-1 coaching clients and/or fill a cleanse/detox program in a short amount of time.

How line up talks and fill the room!

What you’ll want to do this January is partner up with local fitness studios and offer a talk or workshop as a fundraiser for a local charity. Yoga studios are great places to approach for this, but you can also speak at barre studios, pilates studios, boutique gyms, or anywhere else where your ideal clients are likely to be taking classes.

How it works:

    1. Reach out to local fitness studios in your area and offer to give a talk or workshop as a fundraiser. Start by approaching places you work out at, or get an introduction from a friend to their favorite studio/gym. You can also use this strategy to reach out to places.
    2. Ask the fitness studio/center to select a charity of their choice (local is best). Charge $25 per person or $35 for 2 people to attend your talk. All proceeds will be DONATED to the fitness studio’s charity of choice.
    3. The fitness studio will promote the talk in their classes, via flyers, emails, social media, and on their website. All promotions should be sure to mention that this is a fundraiser.
    4. Give your talk on a topic you know the audience cares about and pack it full of valuable information. At the end of the talk, offer everyone in attendance a free consultation OR promote your upcoming group program, such as a cleanse/detox. (Choose one or the other, but don’t do both.) You’ll soon get new clients or program participants…and the revenue will follow.

The charity wins, the fitness studio/center wins, the audience wins, and you win.

Why this strategy works

Fitness centers/studios will be more open to the idea of allowing you to speak at their location, because you’re doing good by the community. Plus, they’ll WANT to promote your talk, because they also want to do good. And if a sizable donation is raised, it’s a great opportunity for the fitness center to issue a press release and get media attention.

Secondly, people are way more likely to sign up and show up for your talk if they know they’re doing something charitable. It almost makes your workshop content feel like a BONUS, adding to the “feel good” feelings that come along with donating to a local charity.

Note: Since 100% of the proceeds will go to charity, you won’t make money off the ADMISSION fees for the talk…but you WILL bring in revenue if you offer complimentary consults to the participants, or promote your group program.

Attendees of your talk will already be into you — in other words, they’ll know, like, and trust you — because you’ve provided so much value in your talk, and you’re doing good for the community.

If you want to start the new year with momentum, January the perfect time of year to be doing this sort of thing. New Year’s Resolutions are just around the corner, and people are searching for a way to finally achieve their health and fitness goals. Your talk will give them the impetus to do so. Your free consultation or group program will provide them with an opportunity to take immediate action.
